A khaki coat was always an included item in most peoples’ closets. I mean, why wouldn’t it be? They’re comfortable, casual and common. But these average khaki coats have recently gone through a transformation and become chic, slimming and fashionable. Word on the street is that green khaki coats have been particularly popular this season. They’ve appeared in many different styles, but the most sought-after style seems to be the green khaki military coat: a lean green machine.

This particular Fashionista embraces simplicity. She doesn’t overdress or over-accessorize, but still looks trendy because she has all the right items incorporated into her outfit. The first key item is the warm knit sweater. For this Fashionista, her two-toned sweater gives an extra element that adds more detail and flair to her entire ensemble. If you want a similar look, this knit cardigan sweater from Free People would look great layered underneath a khaki military coat as well. The second key item is her combat boots. She makes a bold move and strays from the mainstream of black or brown boots and rocks her beige-gray ones. If you want to step away from convention, I say these Steve Madden Troopa combat boots make a similar statement. The last item is the jacket. You can find a similar casual-chic jacket at Zara to get the same slimming and effortless look as this Fashionista. Or for a more fancy look, Zara also has this khaki jacket lined with fur which is also perfect for this winter season. Lastly, this Fashionista finishes her outfit with a cute winter beanie, but personally I think this trapper hat would make a great alternative.

So look out for the lean green military coat this season, because its an item to be watched and coveted.
